LSWR No. 1 Goods Shed

Goods Shed No. 1 was built for the North Cornwall Line and The Swanage Branch by W.R Galbraith, Consulting Engineer to the LSWR. This model is based on the shed at Corfe Castle.

Presented in Purbeck Stone and BR(S) livery the model features a detailed interior and operating doors. There is provision for a shed crane (not supplied). A scale drawing for an LSWR shed crane suited to this model is included within the kit instructions.

Footprint: 174 mm long x 148 mm deep, including overhangs.

Required Skill Level: INTERMEDIATE (Please see Home page for definition)

Expert build time: 10 hrs (without crane).

Contents:

  • 4 x 750 micron (0.75 mm)  A4 Grey Board.
  • 8 x A4 Sticky Backed Paper for Ink Jet or Laser Printers.
  • 1 x 99 mm x 210 mm x 250 micron (0.25 mm) Transparent Sheet.
  • 296 mm x 1 mm diameter wire.
  • 230 mm x 1 mm diameter wire.
  • 40 mm x 0.5 mm diameter wire.

You still need to print the model kits yourself and source adhesives.

Some kits require additional, standard, A4 white print paper that you probably already have to hand (not included).

1. LSWR Type 1 Goods Shed kit (.pdf file)
2. 8 x A4 sticky back label sheets (recommended). Otherwise, 80 g/m2 A4 copier/ink jet white paper
3. 4 x 0.75 Grey Board*
4. 1 x 80 gm2 A4 copier/ink jet white paper
5. 1 x 210 mm x 99 mm x 250 micron clear acetate sheet or packaging
6. 40 mm x 0.5 mm wire painted black (for door handles)
7. 296 mm x 1 mm wire painted green (drain pipes)
8. 230 mm x 1 mm wire painted black (door runners)
9. Green and black enamel or acrylic paints
10. Quick drying PVA glue (grey board butt joints)
11 Paper glue stick, if not using sticky backed paper
12. Double sided tape (for windows if not using stick back paper)
13. Cyanoacrylate glue, e.g Superglue
14. Artist fixer spray - to protect from moisture ingress if using water based ink

* Grey board is a thicker form of cardboard, usually made form recycled material available from eBay.
